Far out comics™ is born! This site will be a place
to read original, independent comics. I am currently
working on several projects, and all of them will be
on this site when they are done. My story telling
philosophy is: to first maintain artistic integrity, then
give the fans, or readers what they want. Once
those first criteria are met, then I try to relate the
work to the reader, and the last point in this
philosophy is to consider the content and take
responsibility for that content. If at any time you
don't think that I’m following this philosophy E-mail
me and let me know how you feel.
FAR OUT COMICS™
I will always stay true to the spirit of what I’m writing, that is what I mean by “artistic
integrity“. This rule comes before and above all others. In all stories that I write there
are elements that must never be changed, and I call these “key elements”. These may
make or break part of, or the entire story. But no matter what the cost, the artistic
integrity of a story must not be compromised. To me “artistic integrity” is the whole
reason, and driving force behind my interest in story telling, so for me (being an
independent comic writer) it is the most important element in story telling.
I have always been in awe at the number of the times I have seen perfectly good
stories get totally ruined. This happens (for what ever reason) because writers and
editors can’t, or won’t just give us what we want from a story. Honestly this happens
because they sell out, or something. Well, I have not sold out, so in addition to being
true to their spirit, my stories will also be of good quality. I will always aim to make
solid story lines, and try to tell them in interesting ways.
I know that my stuff isn’t for everybody, but I may tailor some non- Key elements for the
audience‘s appreciation. In my opinion a good story must be true to it’s spirit, as well
as interesting for its intended reader. So I know that this rule may contradict the others
at times, but it is necessary, sometimes. Truthfully I hate this rule, but whatever.
Finally, I’m not saying all the worlds troubled kids are influenced by T.V., but will take
responsibility for what I write, and keep the open content of my stories from being to
violent, sexual, or destructive. I feel that some people market content that is obviously
mature in subject matter to immature people. I won’t do that. Now, I’m not saying that
all my stories will be kid-friendly, but I won’t go too far into “mature content land”. If my
artistic vision makes the contents of a story to adult, I will put it in a location designated
for mature audiences. I will try to limit access to this mature location as well. I
personally think any one can write a story full of excessive violence, unnecessary sex,
and no plot, but why not make something good instead of creating a new kind of crap.
Plus I think that my story lines are decent, so I don’t need to resort to the cheep shock
value of pointless gore.
When reading my stories it may be clear that I have not been trained professionally in
technical writing, but my concerns are the story elements as well as plots, and
content. I want to tell compelling stories with interesting characters, and plots. I hope
you enjoy all my far out stories.
